Em Niwa

Em Niwa is an Australia-based muralist, illustrator and multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores femininity, humanity and the beauty of the natural world. Her works project warmth and a dreamlike quality, with women’s and animal forms surrounded by lush foliage, drawing inspiration from folk art, traditional textiles and impressionism. With a background in animation and a childhood steeped in Japanese culture, she is well known for her bright and dynamic murals and richly detailed illustrations. Working across a range of disciplines, Em approaches each project and piece with a focus on storytelling, depth and connection.
