Megan Rowland is an interdisciplinary artist, creative strategist, and director with over 20 years’ experience across the independent arts, creative industries, and cultural sectors. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, her career includes international touring with Elision Contemporary Music Ensemble, key creative roles with Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne Fashion Festival, and leadership roles in local government. Her work has been supported by Creative Victoria, the Australia Council, and the Australian Choreographic Centre.
Megan is the founder and director of Habitus, an interdisciplinary studio and creative consultancy driven by artful enquiry. Integrating art making, cultural development, placemaking, and design, Habitus delivers unique and impactful responses for places, organisations, brands, communities, and events. Working with a diverse network of artists, designers, educators, elders, and strategists, Habitus brings bold ideas to life through collaboration and care.
Based on Kabi Kabi Country, Peregian Beach Megan also leads Creative Arts for Sunshine Coast Council. She has established key programs including The Refinery, Dance.Here.Now, MadeSC, and is Creative Director of Horizon, the regions leading 10 day contemporary arts festival.
