Saren Dobkins

Saren Dobkins is a Noosa-based figurative oil painter with over four decades of active practice, whose work is held in the collections of the Queensland University Art Museum and the South Australian Museum. Her paintings are built from the inside out — stories, revelations, moments of emotional and psychological reckoning translated into gesture and line. Working with non-gendered figures stripped back to tone and expression, she explores the territory where self and environment meet: the ways we are shaped by the world we inhabit, and the ways we shape it in return, largely without knowing it. Saren works across oil painting, drawing, and writing, and brings the same depth of inquiry to her teaching and collaborative work. With extensive experience leading workshops, creative coaching sessions, and community art projects, she offers something rare: a practice that is both rigorously developed and genuinely accessible, grounded in the belief that art has the capacity to shift how we see ourselves and each other.
